Lethbridge, AB.-- The Brandon Wheat Kings closed out their 3-game Central Division road trip Wednesday night with a 4-2 victory over the Hurricanes in Lethbridge.

Brenden Walkerscored the game's first three goals and the Wheat Kings, who dressed just fifteen skaters because of injury, held on for the win as Brandon finished up the trip with a 2-1-0 record.

"I thought it was a great effort by our guys. We had a lot of guys step up and just do little things, and that's what you have to do when you have a short bench," Brandon assistant coachDarren Ritchie toldBruce Luebke on CKLQ's post-game show, "You have to block shots, just get everything out, clear the net and then get some goaltending, and Corbin was excellent as the game went along."

Michael Ferlandrounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who received a stellar 39-save performance from netminderCorbin Boes. Twenty of those saves came in the final period when the 'Canes outshot Brandon 20-10.

Mark Stone added two assists to increase his league leading total to 94 points and a two point edge on Regina'sJordan Weal.

Brody SutterandGraham Hood scored in a losing cause for Lethbridge, who started former Wheat King netminderLiam Listonbetween the pipes. He finished the game with 28 saves.

Among the players not dressed for the Wheat Kings on Wednesday was second year centerJason Swyripa, who had his consecutive game streak snapped at 130.

With the win, the Wheat Kings improved their road record to 18-15-0, their overall record to 30-26-1-2 and moved eight points up on Red Deer in the battle for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Brandon remains three points back of seventh place Regina however, as the Pats dumped the Tigers 3-1 in Medicine Hat.

The Wheat Kings will enjoy Thursday off, before returning to the ice this weekend for a pair of games against the visiting Prince Albert Raiders at Westman Place. Friday night isGiant Tiger Player Card Giveaway Night, with the first 2,000 fans in attendance to receive a complete set of 2011-12 Wheat Kings' player cards.
