Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
OGDEN, UT -- The lack of a timely Chukars hit was enough to get the Raptors over their seven game losing streak. Idaho Falls goes 1-16 with runners in scoring position in a 4-1 loss to Ogden
The Chukars (7-9) had a runner at third base each of the first two innings, but JD Underwood (1-1) got out those frames without allowing a run. Idaho Falls did come through in the fourth inning. After a Parker Morin double put him on base, he was driven in by a double from Mike Hill. It gave the Greybirds the game's first run, and increased the hitting streak of Hill to eight games.
Ogden (5-11) would bounce back in the fifth. After Javier Reynoso (1-1) struck out the leadoff hitter, two singles and a walk loaded the bases. Shane Halley came in for Reynoso, and nearly produced an inning ending double play. However, Jaylen Harris beat out a close play at first base, allowing the run to score. Another run scored on a wild pitch to put the Raptors in front.
The Raptors increased their lead in the seventh, thanks to a two run single by Julian Leon. Those runs were the only tallies Mike Jeffreys allowed in two innings.
Strikeouts ran rampant for both teams on a bright day, with shadows across home plate. Idaho Falls struck out a season high 13 teams. On the other side, starter Javier Reynoso struck out nine batters, a season high for a Chukars pitcher.
Idaho Falls continues the seven game series against Ogden tomorrow. It's the final game at Lindquist Field before the scene shifts to Melaleuca Field. Bryan Brickhouse is slated to start for the Chukars, against Abdiel Velasquez.
