The second inning saw the first homerun of the year for ‘Caps infielder Jordan Lennerton, a two-run shot to left, to make the score, 3-0.

A walk and a single would set up Lennerton again in the third as he delivered an RBI single. Luis Salas immediately followed with another RBI single, and Lennerton eventually came home on Tincaps' throwing error for a ‘Caps lead of 6-0.

In the fourth, West Michigan's Wyatt led off with a triple and scored on Jordan Newton's RBI single. Newton would race home on Bryan Pounds' sacrifice fly for a 8-0 advantage.

Luis Palacios of the ‘Caps drove the first pitch he saw of the fifth inning over the left field wall for his first long ball of the year to up the score to 9-0.

Still on fire at the plate, the Whitecaps pushed another run across in the seventh when Newton's double-play ball brought in Chao-Ting Tang who had doubled.

Fort Wayne struck for two runs in the eighth on Daniel Robertson's RBI ground-out and Sawyer Carroll's run-scoring double.

Whitecaps' starter Mauricio Robles (2-0) was dominating all night long. The southpaw threw seven innings, allowing one hit, no runs, walking three, and striking out eight batters. Fort Wayne starter Simon Castro (0-1) takes the loss.
