Richmond Roosters News Release
The Richmond Roosters were only able to muster five runs in three games during their visit to Chillicothe as they lost two out of three games.
The first game of the series was suspended in the third inning tied 0-0 due to rain and was made up as part of a double header on Monday. The Roosters fell behind 7-0 when the game resumed before catcher Tim Marks drove in two runs with a double in seventh. Key Voshell led the Rooster offense by going two for three with an RBI.
The second game of the night saw Richmond starter Chris Spigner come within one out from a no-hitter in the scheduled seven-inning game. Chillicothe starter Kris Buirley was almost as impressive in the loss as he surrendered only three hits in a complete game effort. The lone run of the game was scored in the top of the fifth when Jose Sandoval drove in Jeremiah Klosterman with an RBI single to give the Roosters the victory.
The Paints took the rubber match of the series Tuesday night 4-1, as the Roosters offense again struggled. Chillicothe scored two in the first and one in each of the second and third innings to take control of the game. Key Voshell led the Roosters offense again by going two for four while scoring the team's only run.
The loss dropped the Roosters' record to 4-5 on the road trip.
The Roosters look to get back to their winning ways as they host the Evansville Otters for a three game series beginning Wednesday at McBride Stadium at 6:35.
