
Five Roosters All-Star Selections

RICHMOND, INDIANA â The Richmond Roosters announce that five players have been named East Division All-Stars for the 2003 Frontier League All-Star Game. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Illinois, home of the Gateway Grizzlies.
Leading the group was Jose Sandoval, Jr., who was selected as the starting shortstop. At the time the selections were made on July 8, Sandoval was tied for fifth in the league in stolen bases with fifteen while posting a .310 batting average with twenty RBI.
Outfielder Drew Miller was eighth in the league in batting with a .336 average at the time of selection, and he leads the team with eleven extra-base hits.
The Roosters league leading pitching staff will have three representatives at GMC Stadium. Pitcher Chris Spigner leads the league with six wins while posting a 1.89 ERA. Curt Moenter is 4-1 with a 2.76 ERA, and has struck out 47 opponents while walking only fourteen. Reliever Aaron Williams has posted an impressive 1.33 ERA in a league leading 21 appearances.
The Roosters' five selections are second only to the Washington Wild Things who will have six representatives in Sauget. The game will get started at 7:05 CDT and will be broadcast nationally on Fox Sports Network.
