Offense Delivers Behind Wynkoop In 9-1 Win

Modesto, CA. - Jack Wynkoop lead the Modesto Nuts' 9-1 blowout of the Stockton Ports on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

Wynkoop (W, 4-2) worked six frames and allowed seven hits, six singles. The lone unearned run he allowed scored when James Harris smacked a RBI double in the third driving in Lolana Akau who had reached on a two-out error. Wynkoop did not walk a batter and struck out three in his start for the Nuts (19-26; 45-70).

Kyle Friedrichs (L, 3-6) lasted five innings for the Ports (20-25; 47-68). The righty surrendered four runs on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

Shane Hoelscher put the Nuts on the board first with a RBI double. Ryan Stephens followed with a RBI groundout. Stephens added a sac fly in the third.

The Nuts turned the game into a blowout in the sixth with five runs on five hits. Luis Jean drove in his second RBI of the game with a bunt single. Forrest Wall drove in a run later in the inning with a single as part of a 2-for-5 day. Josh Fuentes banged a two-run single next. Fuentes later scored on an error by shortstop Richie Martin.
