PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Swift Current Broncos (3-6-1-2) found their offensive touch Tuesday night in Prince George against the Cougars (3-7-0-1), scoring seven times en route to a 7-2 victory.

After weathering an early storm thanks to two Cougars power plays, the Broncos opened the scoring late in the first. Carter Chorney took a shot from the right circle off the rush, and Matthew Culling shovelled the rebound into the net for his first of the year with 1:50 left in the period.

Early in the second the Broncos extended their lead as Hayden Ostir's centring pass from near the goal line went off a Cougars skate and into the net.

A few minutes later, Hendrik De Klerk leaned into a slap shot and beat Taylor Gauthier on the blocker side off the post for his first career goal. Gauthier was lifted in favour of Tyler Brennan following the goal.

Brennan didn't fare much better as Joona Kiviniemi pushed it to 4-0 with a quick wrist shot off the rush just minutes after Brennan entered the game.

Fifteen seconds later, Aiden Bulych's long wrister from the top of the left circle somehow eluded Brennan to push the Broncos lead to 5-0 through two periods.

Kiviniemi then found the highlight reel in the third. On the power play, Kiviniemi weaved his way through two defenders in the neutral zone before going wide around the defender and sending a backhander past Brennan for his second of the night.

The Cougars stopped the bleeding as Reid Perepeluk solved Isaac Poulter off a centring pass on the rush to make it 6-1.

Kiviniemi then completed the hat trick as he wound up for a heavy slap shot from the left circle on another power play to make it 7-1. Filip Koffer got one back for the Cougars to make the final score 7-2.

The win ended a seven-game losing streak for the Broncos who won a game in a B.C. Division rink for the first time since October of 2016.

The Broncos now head home to get set to face the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday night at the iPlex.
