Published on October 23, 2019 under Western Hockey League (WHL) News Release

Toronto, Ont. - The Canadian Hockey League today announced the week six edition of the Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2019-20 season. The weekly rankings of the CHL's Top-10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

Jumping to third place in this week's rankings are the Edmonton Oil Kings who lead Western Hockey League standings with an 8-1-3-0 record and 19 points. The Oil Kings' lone game over the weekend against the Red Deer Rebels saw Riley Sawchuk and Josh Williams each earn a goal and an assist while netminder Sebastian Cossa stopped 21 of 22 shots for the victory. Matthew Robertson (New York Rangers), Vladimir Alistrov and Jalen Luypen also helped propel Edmonton to their third win in a row. Hoping to continue their success, the Oil Kings host the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, October 25 (7 p.m. MT).

Coming in behind the Oil Kings are the Prince Albert Raiders who sit in fourth place in the Kia CHL Top 10 rankings and second overall in the WHL standings with a 7-1-3-0 record and 17 points. Kicking off a U.S. Division swing on Saturday against the Everett Silvertips, the Raiders fell short in overtime. But, it was 2020 NHL Draft prospect Ozzy Wiesblatt who scored with 14 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, earning the Raiders one point at the end of the night. On Tuesday, the Raiders dropped a 3-1 decision against the Seattle Thunderbirds with Brayden Watts finding the back of the net for Prince Albert. Finishing their U.S. Division tour this weekend, the Raiders will push for stronger results.

Entering the honourable mentions are the Silvertips who won all three of their games last week to earn an 8-3-0-0 record and 16 points through 11 games. Everett's rankings come on the heels of their three home victories, including a 3-2 decision against the Brandon Wheat Kings, 5-1 result against the Tri-City Americans and 2-1 overtime win against Prince Albert. Calgary Flames prospect Dustin Wolf was particularly strong for the Silvertips in the latter two games of the week stopping 23 of 24 shots against Tri-City and 30 of 31 shots against Prince Albert. Up next for Everett is a road trip to the B.C. Division to face the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, October 25 (7:30 p.m. PT).
