New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, NH. - Sean Ochinko, playing in his third Double-A game, smashed his first Double-A home run off the Samual Adams Bar and Grill on Sunday afternoon. Mike McDade added a two-run bomb in the ninth, but the Fisher Cats (16-25) fell short in an 8-3 loss to the Trenton Thunder (22-18). The loss completes a sweep for the Thunder as the Fisher Cats get ready to begin a series with the Portland Sea Dogs on Monday night.
For the third straight game, the Thunder scored a first inning run, taking a lead against Joel Carreno (0-1), who was making his first start in New Hampshire since 2011. After the Thunder added two more in the fifth, Ochinko knocked one off the facing of the Samuel Adams Bar and Grill in left field, cutting the Fisher Cats deficit to 3-1. It was Ochinko's second base hit since joining the Fisher Cats on Thursday.
Aside from the home run, Thunder starter Shaeffer Hall cruised into the ninth inning. He was one out shy of his first career complete game before McDade's sixth homer landed on the roof the Bar & Grill to cut the deficit to 8-3. Ryan Pope closed down the game to secure Hall's fourth win of the season.
Carreno took the loss giving up two runs over 4.1 innings. He was followed by Matt Daly, who allowed two runs with a season-high four strikeouts. The Thunder broke the game open with four total runs against Sam Dyson and Clint Everts over the final two innings.
