Akron, OH - The Akron Aeros turned four double-plays behind starter T.J. McFarland Sunday, as they completed a three-game sweep of the Richmond Flying Squirrels with a 3-2 victory at Canal Park.

McFarland (8-1) won for the sixth straight time. He leads the Eastern League with eight wins, and lowered his ERA to 1.79 in nine starts. On Sunday, McFarland allowed 12 hits, but walked none. The keystone combination of shortstop Ryan Rohlinger and second baseman Davis Stoneburner turned four double plays for McFarland, who features a sinking fastball.

The Aeros (26-14) swept the Flying Squirrels (Giants) in the three-game weekend series, outscoring Richmond 34-10, in the process.

The Aeros led off the first inning with four straight hits off Richmond starter Craig Westcott (3-4). Adam Abraham laced a doubled to center to drive home Ben Copeland, who had singled, for a 1-0 lead.

After the Squirrels (20-23) tied the game with a run in the fourth, Stoneburner put Akron back on top with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Thomas Neal stroked an RBI single in the fifth to make it 3-1 Akron.

Bryan Price relieved McFarland in the eighth, and finished the game for his second save. The Squirrels made it interesting in the ninth, getting a solo home run from catcher Johnny Monell, and getting the tying run on base with one out on a throwing error by Price. Price responded by getting a fly ball from Jose Flores, and then struck out Gary Brown to end the game.

The Aeros (26-14) will begin an eight-game road trip on Monday night in Trenton, New Jersey. RHP Brett Brach (0-1, 5.87) will start for Akron against RHP Brett Marshall (4-1, 2.79) for Trenton. After four with the Thunder, the Aeros will play for in Erie before returning to Canal Park on Tuesday, May 29th. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
