
O'Brien Leads Stingrays Over Gladiators 3-2 on Epilepsy Awareness Night

North Charleston, SC -Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien buried two goals and added an assist as the South Carolina Stingrays (6-7-1-0) defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators (8-4-0-3) 3-2 in front of 3,068 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening.
O'Brien opened the scoring unassisted at 8:05 of the first period sneaking a shot between the legs of Gladiators goaltender Billy Sauer from center ice. The Gladiators quickly tied it back up at 9:40 as forward Michael Forney fired a wrist shot from the bottom of the left-wing circle under the left pad of Rays netminder Todd Ford. Forwards Dan Kissel and Pat Galivan earned assists.
After a scoreless second period, O'Brien made it 2-1 at 3:49 of the final frame from forward David de Kastrozza. Forward Jake Hauswirth gave the Stingrays a two goal lead moments later snapping a wrist shot past Sauer from between the faceoff circles. O'Brien earned the lone assist. Gladiators forward Danick Paquette pulled the game within one at 12:27 from defenseman Matt Krug and Galivan.
Ford recorded his second straight win stopping 22 of 24 Gladiators shots. Sauer suffered the loss kicking away 29 of 32 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays finished the night 0-for-7 on the power play while Gwinnett concluded the game 0-for-6.
