Match Preview:

Oakland Roots face Tacoma in a six point clash that will see the winner take a big step forward in the fight for the final playoff spot. If Oakland Roots win, they jump ahead of Sacramento into fifth place and just three points behind Tacoma. If Tacoma wins the side from the pacific northwest go seven clear of the playoff line with a game in hand on both Oakland and Sacramento. The two clubs have split the previous two meetings this season, with each side taking a 3-1 home victory.

Roots are currently in the middle of a four game homestand where they picked up one point in a draw on Saturday night with San Diego Loyal in the first game of those four. Paul Blanchette returned between the pipes keeping his second clean sheet of the season. In the last nine games Roots have only lost once on the road at defending Eastern Conference Champions Tampa Bay Rowdies. The last loss prior to this streak was away at Tacoma on August 8th 3-1.

Tacoma Defiance are coming off a rest weekend, last playing on Sunday September 5th in a 3-1 loss to Pacific Division leaders Phoenix Rising. Tacoma is currently sitting on 30 points from 20 games,good for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Pacific. Samuel Adenrian leads the team with six goals including two vs Oakland Roots when they played on August 8th.
