
O-Royals Drop Cactus League Opener

SURPRISE, AZ - The Omaha Royals opened their 13-game Cactus League schedule Friday, dropping the opener 10-4 to the Oklahoma RedHawks at the Spring Training facility the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers share in Surprise, Arizona.
The Royals trailed 7-2 entering the top of the eighth inning, when outfielder Brian McFall led off with a home run and infielder Juan Richardson followed with a solo shot. Richardson walked and singled in his other two plate appearances and scored two runs in the game.
Geraldo Valentin was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one of two runs in the top of the third as the Royals forged a short-lived tie. Oklahoma took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the third and put the game away with another three-spot in the eighth.
Omaha visits the Portland Beavers, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, on Saturday afternoon in Peoria, Arizona.
The Royals 2008 season opener is set for Rosenblatt Stadium on Thursday, April 3rd at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Albuquerque Isotopes.
Single-game tickets for the Royals 2008 season go on sale Saturday, March 15th, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rosenblatt Stadium, or by calling the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100. Tickets will also be available online at www.oroyals.com and at www.Etix.com. Royals season ticket holders will be able to pick up their tickets at Saturday's event and Royal Treasures, the team's merchandise and souvenir store, will be open.
