SURPRISE, AZ - The Oklahoma RedHawks exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 5-3 win over the Omaha Royals on Monday. The defeat drops Omaha's record in Cactus League action to 6-3-1.

Lefty John Bale, viewed as a favorite among four candidates for one of the last two spots in Kansas City's starting rotation, got the start for Omaha. He allowed five runs on ten hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. However, he did not walk a batter and struck out three. In four Spring Training starts for Kansas City, Bale is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA, but has issued only two walks while chalking up eleven strikeouts in 14-and-two-thirds innings. He's battling Brett Tomko, Kyle Davies and Jorge de la Rosa for the fourth and fifth rotation spots with the parent club.

Right-hander Matt Peterson finished on the mound for Omaha, hurling two-and-a-third scoreless innings, giving up two hits and fanning a pair of batters.

At the plate, Devery Van De Keere was 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Shane Costa delivered an RBI single and Chris Lubanski collected the Royals other RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Omaha visits the Portland Beavers, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, on Tuesday in Peoria, Arizona.

The Royals 2008 season opener is set for Rosenblatt Stadium on Thursday, April 3rd at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Albuquerque Isotopes. For tickets, call the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100, or order and print tickets online at www.oroyals.com and at www.Etix.com.
