
Norfolk sweeps Hershey to open season

NORFOLK, VA â The Admirals began the 2004-05 campaign with a pair of victories over the Hershey Bears to claim a share in the East Division lead. In their home opener on October 15, a Matt Keith shot that deflected off Jim Vandermeer early in the third period stood as the game-winner in Norfolk's 3-2 win over the Bears. The next night at Giant Center, Michael Leighton stopped all 25 shots he faced as the Ads blanked Hershey 3-0.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins) visit Hampton Roads for a pair of match ups this week, Wednesday, October 20 and Friday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

ADMIRALS NOTEBOOK
· With home and road victories over Hershey this past weekend, the Admirals have won four straight home openers as well as four consecutive road openers since their inception into the league in 2000.
· Norfolk improved to 19-13-5-3 all-time over Hershey, including a record of 12-4-2-2 at Scope.
· Jim Vandermeer was credited with the game-winning goal when a Matt Keith shot deflected off his hip in his Norfolk debut on October 15.
· Rene Bourque scored his first professional goal in his pro debut at Hershey on October 16.
· Michael Leighton's win against Hershey on October 16 gives him a record of 8-2-2 in 12 career regular season appearances against the Bears.
