Norfolk Tides News Release

David Washington's second home run of the night - a two-run walk-off shot in the 11th inning - powered Norfolk to a 9-7 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox Wednesday night at Harbor Park.

With the score tied at 7-7 in the 11th, Drew Dosch worked a leadoff walk from Noe Ramirez (1-2) to start the game-winning rally, and one-out later Washington blasted a 1-1 pitch off the right field scoreboard to give the Tides their fourth walk-off win of the season. It was the second two-run homer of the night for Washington and was Norfolk's first walk-off home run since Trey Mancini accomplished the feat on July 1, 2016.

Washington finished the contest with three hits and has now hit safely in seven straight games, over which he's batted .407 (11-27) with three home runs, six RBI and five runs scored.

Norfolk had led the contest 7-3 entering the seventh frame before a 65 minute rain delay halted the contest with one out in the inning. After the delay, Bryce Brentz connected on a two-out grand slam to left-center field off of Paul Fry to knot the score at 7-7.

Chris Dickerson gave the Tides a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning with a two-run homer - his third of the season. Dickerson has now hit .303 (10-33) with two home runs and seven RBI since being reinstated from the disabled list on May 23rd.

With the Tides trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Pedro Álvarez gave the Tides the lead with a towering three-run shot to right field off of Pawsox starter Kyle Kendrick. The 30-year-old Vanderbilt product has now hit .351 (20-57) with seven doubles, eight home runs, eight multi-hit games and 20 RBI over his last 13 games, upping his average by 49 points over that stretch.

Álvarez finished the month of May with 29 runs batted in, the most by a Tides player since Norfolk became an Orioles affiliate in 2007. His nine home runs in May are also tied for the most by a Norfolk player as an O's affiliate, matching the nine homers Michael Aubrey hit in July of the 2010 campaign.

Making just his second start with the Tides since coming off of Baltimore's disabled list with a hamstring injury, Norfolk starter Gabriel Ynoa yielded three runs on seven hits over 4.1 innings of work. He struck out two without walking a batter and threw 48 of his 70 pitches for strikes.

Jimmy Yacabonis (1-0) earned his first Triple-A victory with a scoreless inning of relief, with Edwin Jackson turned in three shutout innings out of the bullpen to lower his ERA in 11 appearances with the Tides to 3.26.

The two teams will conclude their three-game set on Thursday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch set for 7:05. Tyler Wilson (0-3, 4.87) gets the start for Norfolk and will be opposed by RHP Hector Velazquez (2-1, 1.55).

Notes: In a slew of roster moves Wednesday, the Orioles recalled RHP Mike Wright and C Francisco Peña to Baltimore, IF Robert Andino was placed on Norfolk's Restricted List, C Audry Pérez was transferred to Norfolk from Bowie, IF Jesús Montero was transferred to Norfolk from the Class-A Aberdeen roster and RHP Tyler Wilson was activated after being optioned from Baltimore...With six roster moves Wednesday, Norfolk now has 99 roster moves this season and finished the month of May with 67 transactions... Johnny Giavotella finished with three hits in the contest as he upped his on-base streak to 17 games - the longest by a Tides player this season.
