Charlotte Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, NY-- Cody Asche launched his fourth home run over his last six games, but the Charlotte Knights dropped the finale of their three-game series to the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 8-4 on Thursday from NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse, NY. The Charlotte Knights loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, but their late-inning rally fell just short on Thursday.

After swatting a walk-off home run to win Monday's game and a home run in game one of Wednesday's twin bill, Asche once again provided some offense for the Knights. This time, Asche ripped a two-run home run in the fourth inning of Thursday' contest. Asche extended his hit streak to nine straight games and went 2-for-3 with the home run and two RBIs in Thursday's finale. Over his last six games, the St. Charles, MO native is hitting .526 (10-for-19) with seven runs scored, four home runs and 12 RBIs.

RHP Tyler Danish (1-4, 3.48) started for the Knights and gave up eight runs (four earned) on six hits over six innings. He was charged with his fourth loss of the season with the Knights. Thursday's start was the first for Danish since winning his first career major league start on May 27 with the Chicago White Sox. On that day, the 22-year-old threw five shutout innings. He was optioned back to the Knights after that start.

Charlotte relievers Jake Dunning and Brad Goldberg each tossed a scoreless inning in Thursday's game. Goldberg has yet to allow a run on the road this season (10.1 IP). Overall for the season, Goldberg has not allowed a run in eight straight games (10.1 IP).

Nicky Delmonico, Carson Blair, Jacob May, Tyler Ladendorf, and Asche all had two hits apiece in the game. The Knights tallied a total of 13 hits despite the game three loss.

Syracuse was led offensively by former Knights outfielder Ryan Raburn, who had three RBIs on Thursday. Raburn was traded to the Washington Nationals organization on May 26. RHP A.J. Cole (2-2, 5.80), who started the game for Syracuse, earned the win after allowing three runs on seven hits over six innings.

The Knights will now head to Buffalo, NY to open a three-game series against the Buffalo Bisons on Friday. RHP Carson Fulmer (5-4, 4.89) will start for the Knights against RHP Jarrett Grube (2-2, 5.89) for the Bisons. Pre-game radio coverage of Friday's 7:05 p.m. game starts at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Charlotte (730 AM) and CharlotteKnights.com with the "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad.
