Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Adam Moore had three hits and two RBI and Jose Escalona pitched five scoreless innings to lead the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers to a 6-2 win over the Fort Wayne Wizards Thursday night. The win snaps a six game losing streak for the Rattlers.

Wisconsin (40-71 overall, 13-28 second half) went on the board with four runs after two outs in the bottom of the second inning. Jeff Flaig singled in Moore and a throwing error on the same play allowed Eddy Hernandez to score. Back-to-back RBI singles by Travis Scott and Chris Minaker put the Rattlers up 4-0.

A two-run single by Moore in the fifth inning extended the Rattler lead to 6-0.

Escalona recorded only one 1-2-3 inning in five innings, but he nursed the lead into the sixth inning. Will Venable doubled to start the sixth and Roman Martinez relieved Escalona. The Rattler reliever kept Venable from scoring and the Rattlers still held the 6-0 lead.

Fort Wayne (53-55, 22-19) broke up the shutout on an RBI single by Mike Sansoe. An error on the play allowed a second run to score and the Wizards pulled to within 6-2. But, that was it for the Wizards.

The final game of the four game series is Friday night. Marwin Vega (3-8, 5.54ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Stevie Delabar (8-6, 3.16ERA) is slated to start for the Wizards. Game time is 7:05pm.
