
Swing add two new promotions to lineup

The Swing of the Quad Cities have announced the addition two promotions to the upcoming homestand beginning on Saturday, August 6. Tasty Tuesday and Autographed Baseball Night have been added to the schedule as the Swing will welcome the Clinton LumberKings and the West Michigan Whitecaps to John O'Donnell Stadium for four games each.
Cardinals' fans will want to be in attendance on Saturday, August 12 as the Swing take on West Michigan. All Swing players will wear St. Louis jerseys, which will be raffled and auctioned both silent and live throughout the night. Proceeds from the jerseys will benefit Genesis Charity Care. It is also Autographed Baseball night and the first 500 fans will receive a baseball featuring the autograph of famous current or former athletes. Fans will have the opportunity to receive a ball signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins. A ball signed by former Negro League stars Buck O'Neill and Hall-of-Famer Monte Irvin will be given to one lucky fan. Baseballs signed by St. Louis Cardinals' 2005 Cy Young Award winner Chris Carpenter, Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa, as well as current Cardinals' stars Jim Edmonds, So Taguchi, David Eckstein, Jason Isringhausen and John Rodriguez are all up for grabs. Football fans will be to happy to hear that there is an autographed ball signed by Iowa Head football coach Kirk Ferentz and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. After the game, fans can enjoy the fireworks show presented by KWQC/WKBF.
Tasty Tuesday, will take place on August 8, as the Swing do battle with in-state rivals, Clinton. Participants will have the opportunity to sample beer from five local breweries, including Bent River Brewing Company, Front Street Brewery, Blue Cat Brew Pub, Granite City and Millstream Brewing Company. The vendors will feature 14 different beers, each in competition with the other for best ale, best lager and best specialty beer. Tickets will be sold, to those of age, in bundles of five for $5. Each ticket may be redeemed for a 5 oz. sample of any beer in the picnic area. Tasting and voting will begin and 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Jim Hunter of Q 106.5 will announce the winners during the eighth inning.
UP NEXT: The Swing of the Quad Cities will continue their series in Lansing on Thursday night, as RHP Donnie Smith (1-1, 5.40) will take the mound for the Swing opposite LHP A.J. Wideman (1-3, 4.54) of the Lugnuts. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CDT and coverage on Progressive Talk AM-1270 will begin at 5:50 p.m.
NEXT HOMESTAND: The Swing will return to Davenport for an eight-game homestand that will last from August 5-13, as the Clinton LumberKings and West Michigan Whitecaps will each come to town for four games.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: The next homestand will kickoff on Saturday, August 5, as WQPT and B 100 will bring Clifford the Big Red Dog to John O'Donnell Stadium and a KWQC/WKBF fireworks display will follow the game. Sunday, August 6, will be the Davenport Optimists' Youth Appreciation Day as well as a Mix 96 Family Fun Day, and a Q106.5 $1 Monday comes your way on August 6.
