South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend - The closest the South Bend Silver Hawks came to being in their game Thursday night against the West Michigan Whitecaps was when the team arrived at Stanley Coveleski Stadium earlier in the afternoon. The Whitecaps scored runs in their first four at-bats and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Hawks.
West Michigan smacked 10 hits through the first three innings, scoring two runs in the first inning on a two run single by Mike Hollimon. West Michigan tacked another four to the board in the second frame. The big blow in the inning was a bases clearing triple to move the Whitecaps to a 6-0 lead. The Whitecaps picked their ninth and tenth hits on a one out double by Dusty Ryan, followed by an RBI single Mark Haske.
The Silver Hawks (58-47, 25-15) conclude their four game series Friday night with the Whitecaps. First pitch is slated for 7:00PM. Friday, Newstalk 960 will broadcast live from the Budeweiser Bullpen Bar & Grille before the game. Darin Pritchett and Rick Carter will serve as the show hosts.
