Frederick Keys News Release

The Keys got the go ahead rally late, scoring three ninth inning runs to break a tie ballgame as Frederick made it two-in-a-row against league-best Salem in a 4-1 win.

3B Billy Rowell continued his offensive surge, singling to centerfield to start the ninth inning. After pulling the infield in with the show of bunt, DH LJ Hoes lined a single to left field and the rally was on. LF Jacob Julius put down a beautiful sacrifice bunt to move runners up a base and 1B Buck Britton brought Frederick the lead.

With the infield drawn in, Britton hit a hard ground ball that was knocked down by Salem SS Ryan Dent. Dent recoved in time to offer a throw to first base but it was awry. Britton was given an infield single and an RBI nut the poor throw also allowed Hoes to score all the way from second base and the Keys had the lead, 3-1. 2B Bobby Stevens singled to right field and the ball was botched by Salem RF Alex Hassan, allowing Britton to score on the play.

Frederick got an outstanding start from Ryan O'Shea who did not allow a hit after his second batter faced. He went five innings allowing a run on just two hits. He gave way to RHP Oliver Drake, activated from the disabled list this afternoon. Drake's return would be efficient as he struck out three Red Sox in two shutout innings of work.

Keys reliever Jose Diaz would win his first game in his Orioles organizational debut with a scoreless eighth inning. Closer Brandon Cooner worked a 1,2,3 ninth inning for his league-leading sixth save.

The Keys look to win its fourth-in-a-row Wednesday, May 12th at 7:05 p.m. against Salem at Lewis Gale Field. LHP Nate Nery will make the start with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. from Salem, VA.

Frederick returns home Monday, May 17th to face the Potomac Nationals at 7:00 p.m. It is a Kids Eat Free Monday. For tickets contact the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
