San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---One of the newest additions to the Colts has been a one-man wrecking crew since putting on the maroon and white. The North American League named designated hitter Brian Nichols the Rawlings Player of the Week for the week of August 15 after the slugger hit .455 with five home runs and 10 runs batted in.
The Colts acquired Nichols from the McAllen Thunder in a trade for outfielder Vic Ferrante on August 15th. San Angelo is Nichols' fourth team of the season after he started the year in the Atlantic League and played in Mexico before joining McAllen.
The left-handed hitter played for the Colts briefly in 2008, when he hit .336 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI. Nichols played his college baseball Alabama State. Nichols becomes the sixth Colt to win Player of the Week this season, following Daryl Jones, Cory Patton, Ronnie Gaines, Chandler Barnard and Brian Henschel.
