
Colts Walk-Off for Second Time in Series

San Angelo, Texas---The San Angelo Colts and the Rio Grande Valley White Wings traded blows through the first five innings. The Colts tied it up late in the eighth on a passed ball thrown by relief pitcher Edgar Martinez. The Colts provided the late inning drama in extra innings. Clay Calfee homered in the tenth to tie up the game, then shortly after Ronnie Gaines produced the game-winning single. With the win the Colts salvaged the series and split with Rio Grande on the home stand.
Edgar Trejo singled home Leivi Ventura for the go-ahead run in the tenth. Edgar Martinez entered the bottom of the tenth for a second inning of work and the Colts didn't take long to get to the White Wings' closer.
Clay Calfee (12) homered on the second pitch of the at bat to lead off the bottom half of the tenth. Mark Ramos doubled with one out, bringing up Ronnie Gaines with two outs.
Gaines singled in the game winning run, giving him 79 RBI on the year. The Colts win on their second walk-off of the series on Fan Appreciation night at Foster Field.
Both starters, Adam Kramer and Juan Cedeno, struggled to hold the bats down but looked good early. Kramer went six innings, striking out two and never really gave up a big inning to keep the Colts in the game. Cedeno went three and two-thirds giving up six runs and striking out eight.
Josh Giles (2-3, 4.91 ERA) picked up the win in tonight's affair. Giles went two innings, giving up three hits and one run. Edgar Martinez (2-3, 2.48 ERA) took the loss, going two innings giving up two runs on three hits.
