Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Brooklyn, NY - Runs were at a premium on Friday evening, but a four-run seventh inning provided all the offense the IronBirds would need as they defeated Brooklyn 4-2. Nic Gaddis went 3-for-3 with a run scored, and two RBI to lead the Brooklyn offense.

Brooklyn drew first blood on Friday evening taking an early lead in the bottom of the first. Alex Ramirez had a two-out triple into the right-center field gap and would later score on a Nic Gaddis RBI single to give the 'Clones a 1-0 lead.

Luis Moreno (0-4) made the start for Brooklyn and cruised through the first 6.0 innings, allowing just a pair of hits while striking out five, but in the top of the seventh he ran into trouble. John Rhodes started the threat when he reached on a fielding error by Gaddis and then the flood gates opened. Billy Cook followed with a double to put runners on second and third with one out. TT Bowens then ripped a triple into the right-center field gap to score the pair and give Aberdeen a 2-1 lead. Shayne Fontana then singled to push home another run and put an end to the night for Moreno. Dylan Hall came on in relief and Adres Angulo greeted him with a double to score another run and extend the IronBirds lead to 4-1.

Jean Pinto got the win for the IronBirds and was dominant over his 5.0 innings on the mound, allowing just three hits while striking out eight. In 13.0 innings against Brooklyn this season, Pinto has allowed just 6 hits while striking out 19 batters.

Brooklyn was finally able to break through against Pinto in the bottom of the eighth when Nic Gaddis connected on his fifth home run of the season to make it 4-2. But that's how the game would end, as Nick Richmond tossed a scoreless ninth inning to seal the IronBirds win.
