
Renegades Top Claws; De La Cruz Homers for Jersey Shore

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Beck Way struck out seven over six innings while Everson Pereira homered and tripled as Hudson Valley topped the BlueClaws 6-3 on Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.
Hudson Valley opened the scoring on a first inning SAC fly from Tyler Hardman. Trey Sweeney, one of three to draw a walk in the frame from starter Mick Abel, came in to score. Sweeney then hit a two-out two-run home run in the second inning to give the Renegades a 3-0 lead. Cooper Bowman, the next batter, tripled off the centerfield wall. Sweeney came into score though Bowman was thrown out bidding for an inside-the-park home run.
Carlos De La Cruz hit a three run home run, his fourth homer of the year, in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull Jersey Shore within 4-3 beore Everson Pereira took Abel deep in the fifth.
Abel was charged with five runs in 4.2 innings, allowing five hits and six walks while striking out four.
Way (4-4) earned the win and Nelson Alvarez got the last three outs for his third save.
De La Cruz had a double to go along with his home run in the loss.
The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Andrew Painter will make his ShoreTown Ballpark debut.
