Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies captain Ryan Kinasewich will become the team's all-time leading goal scorer with his next goal.

Kinasewich tied Chris Taylor atop the all-time team lead Friday at the 11:07 mark of the third period to give Utah a 5-3 lead in their season opening win in Las Vegas. The goal capped off a hat trick and a four-point game for the Utah forward.

With 111 goals and 146 assists for 257 points in 181 all-time regular season games with the Grizzlies, the 26-year-old is 21 points away from tying Taylor to become the all-time leading scorer in the history of the team.

Should the record-setting goal occur at home, the organization has obtained permission from the ECHL to stop the contest for a short acknowledgement.

The Grizzlies open their home schedule Friday and Saturday at the E-Center when they host the Idaho Steelheads. Face-off both nights is at 7:05 p.m.

Utah enters their fifth year in the ECHL and their third-straight season as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. On September 16, 2009, the Grizzlies announced that they will also be adding up to four prospects this season from the Calgary Flames. Head Coach Kevin Colley returns to the Utah bench this upcoming season after signing a multi-year contract extension on April 20, 2009. Colley, who at the age of 30 is the youngest coach in the ECHL, led the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the third time in four years during his rookie head coaching campaign.
