K-Wings Receive Jones From Sharks

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce the Sharks have reassigned forward Matt Jones from the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League to the K-Wings.

Jones, who started the season playing four games with Worcester, joins Will Colbert and Mitch Versteeg as contracted players from the Sharks that have been reassigned to the K-Wings this season.

Last season, Jones appeared in 46 games in Worcester registering eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) along with 19 penalty minutes. Jones also played in two games last year in the ECHL with the Phoenix Roadrunners.

Jones played two seasons of collegiate hockey at Merrimack College (MA). In 2007-08, Jones led the Warriors with 15 goals and 124 shots and was second on the team with 22 points and four power-play goals.

The native of Kentwood, Michigan recorded the first goal of the game a team-high six times and was the Warriors' lone representative on the Hockey East All-Conference team, earning an honorable mention for his efforts.

Before heading to Merrimack, Jones played three seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (Green Bay Gamblers and Sioux City Musketeers) and North American Hockey League (Soo Indians).

In separate transactions, the K-Wings have activated goaltender Ryan Nie for the 3-Day IR. Kalamazoo has also placed goaltender Julien Ellis on the 3-Day IR, Blake Friesen has been moved from the 7-Day to the 21-Day and forward Brian McGuirk has been placed on the 7-Day IR.

After starting the season 3-0-0-0, the K-Wings will head home to Wings Stadium this Saturday, October 24th to battle the Reading Royals. Saturday's contest also marks the very first ECHL home game for the K-Wings. Customary for opening night, all fans will receive a FREE magnetic schedule courtesy of Meijer. Also, fans will receive a FREE team poster courtesy of Fed-Ex Office and Men's Wearhouse and Tux.

Single-game tickets for any of the K-Wings 36 regular season home games are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games range in price from $9.90-$14.90 for adults and only $6.90 for kids ages 12 and under. Fans can purchase individual game tickets at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office or at any Ticketmaster outlet. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice and New Year's Eve game) will be increased by $1.

All tickets that are purchased for any K-Wings game on game-day will be increased by $1 per ticket.
