
De Gray's Late Goal Gives Condors 3-1 Win Over Victoria

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Bakersfield Condors (2-1-0-0, 3pts) topped the Victoria Salmon Kings (0-4-0-0, 0pts) 3-1 in front of 4,569 fans at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre Wednesday night. D John de Gray scored the game-winner late in the third period, while G Timo Pielmeierpicked up his first professional win with 29 saves.
Pielemeier was tested early, but did not allow a goal in the opening frame. A scoreless first period finished with a 12-4 shots advantage for the Salmon Kings.
The Condors struck first, scoring their first power play goal of the season to grab a 1-0 lead at 5:01 of the second period. LW Shawn Weller tallied the goal with assists going to D Eric Regan and RW Dan Sexton. While shorthanded, C Adam Naglich drew a penalty shot with 8:22 gone by in the second period, but failed to convert. The Condors maintained their lead heading into the third period.
C Adam Taylor evened the score at one with 7:27 remaining in the third period. But de Gray's goal with 3:02 left in regulation proved to be the difference. D Sasha Pokulok put the game away with an empty-net tally with a second remaining in the game for his team-leading third goal of the season.
Up next: The Condors remain in Victoria for two more games this weekend, with matches on Friday and Saturday night. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. All Condors games can be heard live on ESPN 1230, or through live streaming on B2 Networks and www.bakersfieldcondors.com .
