
New York Red Bulls Sign Goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci to New MLS Contract

HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have signed goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci to a new MLS contract, the club announced today. Marcucci has signed a new two-year contract through 2025 with an option for 2026 and 2027.
"We are excited to sign A.J. [Marcucci] to a new contract to keep him at the club" said Head of Sport Jochen Schneider. "He has had a strong year within MLS NEXT Pro so far and we are excited to continue to see him grow with us."
Marcucci, 23, was drafted by the Red Bulls in the third round of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and then signed for New York Red Bulls II on April 15, 2021. He signed his first MLS contract on September 11, 2021. Marcucci has made 43 career appearances with NYRB II, where he has posted eight shutouts and made 154 saves. He ranks second in club history in saves, games played in goal, and minutes played in goal.
This season Marcucci ranks second in MLS NEXT Pro in clean sheets with four, while only allowing 10 goals this season. He has helped lead NYRB II to their best start to a season since 2019. Marcucci has amassed a record of 5-2-3 this season and ranks fourth in MLS NEXT Pro in saves with 38.
"I am very happy to keep A.J. [Marcucci] as a member of this club," said Head Coach Troy Lesesne. "Since joining the club in 2021, A.J. [Marcucci] has continued to grow every single season he has been with the club and we are excited for him to continue here with us."
Prior to New York, Marcucci was a three-year starter for Connecticut College, where he appeared in 54 career matches and only allowed 27 goals. He holds the school record for the most clean sheets in a career with 25. The West Chester, Pennsylvania native was named to the NCAA All-America First Team by United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com in 2018, while also being named the 2018 NESCAC Player of the Year.
