New York City FC News Release
NEW YORK CITY | New York City FC announced today they have surpassed 18,000 Founding Members after selling more than 1,000 Season Tickets in less than a month.
Tom Glick, President of New York City FC, said:
"Demand has been tremendous all season and we have seen a significant spike, selling over 1,000 additional Founding Memberships since the arrival of Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo in July."
Yankee Stadium, as configured for New York City FC matches, typically holds 27,528 fans, but due to demand, additional seats have been made available for six or the team's first 12 home games, bringing average attendance to close to 29,000 per match.
New York City FC have had four sell outs in a row since the end of June, starting with the derby against the Red Bulls, which broke a season record with a full stadium capacity of over 48,000.
Captain David Villa spoke to NYCFC.com about the support the Club has had so far this season:
"I want to take this opportunity to thank our fans for the support that they bring to Yankee Stadium week in week out. We are amazed by the atmosphere the supporters give us every time we step onto the pitch and we appreciate all that they are doing to help build this Club."
The Club will cap Founding Memberships at 20,000, leaving less than 2,000 spots remaining. Of the remaining tickets, only 500 will be guaranteed the same seat for rest of this season. The additional 1,500 Founding Members will have priority to secure their own personal seat for the 2016 season and beyond.
All Founding Members will have preferred full season ticket pricing for the life of their account and priority access to seat selection in future seasons.
Fans can get tickets by visiting nycfc.com/tickets or by calling 855-77-NYCFC.
Fans can also buy individual game tickets in advance at the Yankees Box office.
