New York City FC News Release
NEW YORK | Due to the high demand for tickets, New York City FC will open up all of Yankee Stadium for their much-anticipated home match against the New York Red Bulls at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 28.
The Club made this decision to ensure as many fans as possible are able to experience the one-of-a-kind atmosphere when, for the first time, New York City FC host the Red Bulls at iconic Yankee Stadium.
Fan enthusiasm this season has created a distinctive atmosphere at the stadium, with New York City FC attendance averaging nearly 27,000 per match. The engagement and excitement supporters show at games creates an authentic New York soccer experience at New York City FC home matches.
Yankee Stadium, as configured for New York City FC matches, typically holds just over 27,500 fans, but with over 30,000 tickets already sold, an exception is being made to expand and open up the entire stadium to accommodate the huge demand for this first every home match against the neighboring Red Bulls.
Tom Glick, President of New York City FC, said:
"Demand for tickets to this game has been amazing. This is clearly an important match for our supporters, with our regular capacity being sold out more than a month before the game. Just like the home opener in March, New Yorkers clearly want to be part of this landmark moment for their Club and we are giving them every opportunity to come and support their team. Yankee Stadium will be the place to be on June 28th."
