Sporting KC Hosts First-Place Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday

Sporting Kansas City News Release
Sporting Kansas City hosts Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders FC at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Sporting Park in a match-up featuring the top two teams in the MLS power rankings. The marquee match will be locally televised on KMCI's 38 the Spot and across the Midwest on SKCTV with pregame coverage beginning at 7 p.m. CT.
Standing Room Only tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com and a limited number of all-inclusive VIP tickets for the Upper Victory Suite have been made available, while supplies last, by contacting tickets@sportingkc.com or calling 888-4KC-GOAL. All fans are encouraged to arrive early on Saturday for the #SKCvSEA showdown and the first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative poster of Sporting KC captain Matt Besler, produced by local artist John Bukaty and distributed courtesy of Sprint.
In addition, the following food and drink specials will be available from 5:30-6 p.m. CT at the Sporting Park concession stands located at sections 101, 114, 127 and 129:
$1 hotdogs and regular sodas
$3 Boulevard Wheat and domestic pints
$5 hamburger/fries combo
Saturday will also be the first opportunity for fans to purchase co-branded Sporting KC/Boulevard Brewing Company t-shirts and scarves at Sporting Style locations when gates open at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Sporting KC held Seattle to a scoreless draw two weeks ago at CenturyLink Field despite missing nine players due to injury and international duty. Saturday's rematch will see both sides enter on impressive runs of form as Seattle have won six of their past eight MLS matches while Sporting KC has lost only once in their past 11 games.
Now in the Western Conference together for the first time, Sporting KC aims to write a new chapter in the all-time series with Seattle and will be in pursuit of the team's first win over the Sounders since the inaugural meeting in 2009. Sporting KC has suffered four straight one-goal losses at home to Seattle in MLS action and the team's nine-game regular season winless run against the Sounders is the longest versus any team in club history.
Sporting KC leads MLS in goals (21) and assists (26) this season after earning four-goal victories in each of their last two home matches, prevailing 4-2 past New England and routing FC Dallas 4-0 last week. Sporting KC is the only MLS team to have three players -- Krisztian Nemeth, Dom Dwyer and Benny Feilhaber -- with four or more goals this season. Dwyer remains questionable for Saturday's match and Nemeth will be unavailable due to international duty after being voted Etihad Airways MLS Player of the Month earlier this week.
Seattle has scored 20 goals this season, second most in MLS behind Sporting KC, and has conceded a League-low 10 goals against. The Sounders earned a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the New York Red Bulls last weekend courtesy of second half goals from Marco Pappa and Chad Barrett.
Seattle will also be shorthanded on Saturday as they return to the road after a three-game homestand. Brad Evans is with the U.S. Men's National Team while Osvaldo Alonso will be serving a one-game suspension delivered by the MLS Disciplinary Committee. The availability of fellow Designated Players Obafemi Martins (broken nose) and Clint Dempsey (personal) remains uncertain as the pair have combined for 13 goals and nine assists this season.
In-game updates will be available at SportingKC.com/GameOn, via Twitter courtesy of @SKCGameday and through the Sporting Club Uphoria mobile app. In addition, fans can join The Final Whistle: Sporting KC Postgame Show discussion on Sports Radio 810 WHB by calling 913-3-810-810.
