
New York City FC Announce Preseason for 2022 Season

New York City FC News Release
NEW YORK, N.Y. - New York City FC (NYCFC) today announced the Club's preseason plans for the 2022 Major League Soccer season.
NYCFC departed for training camp on Monday, January 17. The camp will begin in Orlando and will feature two friendlies during the Club's stay in Florida. NYCFC will kick off their preseason slate against Orlando City SC on Sunday, January 23.
A second match will be played on January 29 against CF Montreal before the team departs to Cancun, Mexico for the remainder of camp.
NYCFC will play the first of two friendlies in Mexico on Saturday, February 5 against local side Cancun FC with an additional pair of games scheduled for Wednesday, February 9, where NYCFC First Team will face Queretaro FC and the Second Team playing Inter Playa del Carmen.
The team will then travel to San Jose, Costa Rica ahead of their CONCACAF Champions League First Leg match against Santos de Guapiles FC to be played in the National Stadium of Costa Rica on Tuesday, February 15.
The Club briefly flies back to New York prior to leaving for Los Angeles on Sunday, February 20. The 'Boys in Blue' will play the Second Leg of the CONCACAF Champions League against Santos de Guapiles FC at Banc of America Stadium in LA on Wednesday, February 23.
Shortly after, on Sunday, February 27 NYCFC will face LA Galaxy in their MLS Season Opener in Carson, C.A.
32 players make this season's preseason traveling roster for Orlando. Five academy players will join the First Team this year, including Mateo Ponce-Ocampo, who was part of the 2021 preseason.
Goalkeeper and Club Captain Sean Johnson and Defender Alexander Callens will report to camp after their international duty assignments.
