New Pitcher on the Mound
June 10, 2009 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
The Evansville Otters today announced the signing of southpaw Tom Mueller of Westfield, Ind.
Mueller was signed shortly after the Otters released left handed pitcher Sean Thompson of LaJunta, Colo. Thompson had been a 5th round draft choice in the 2002 draft out of Denver's Thunder Ridge High School. However, after appearing in three games for the Otters during the 2009 season he compiled an 11.57 ERA.
Mueller recently finished up his collegiate playing career at Ball State University where he was the team captain his senior year and appearing in 29 games as the Cardinals' top reliever. His 29 relief appearances are tied for the most in a single season in Ball State history. He led the Cardinals with a 1.46 EAR in 37.0 innings and only allowed 6 runs throughout the year.
Mueller will be making appearances out of the pen for the Otters and then re-join the front office staff after the completion of the 2009 season as an account executive.
The Otters are on the road facing the Southern Illinois Miners and then continuing on to play the River City Rascals. The Otters return home to Evansville on June 15th as they take on the Rockford Riverhawks at 7:05pm.
