New marching band seeks talented youth

EDMONTON – Northlands Park and the Edmonton Eskimos are proud to be recruiting members for the newly created Edmonton Spirit Marching Band, an elite marching band that will perform at some of Edmonton's biggest events, including the Klondike Days Parade and Edmonton Eskimos home games. This exciting new initiative gives youth the chance to enhance their musical skills, make new friends and show off their talent. Youth and their parents or guardians are invited to attend the upcoming recruitment drive to find out more:

What: Edmonton Spirit Marching Band Recruitment Drive

When: Tuesday, May 4, 2004 from 6 – 9 p.m.

Where: Northlands AgriCom, Salon 5

Who: Youth ages 10 to 21 who can read and play music

Brass, woodwind, percussion and colour guard positions are available

Registration: $100 for current members of Edmonton Sabers, Edmonton Ambassadors, Edmonton Crusaders and Edmonton Strutters bands

$350 for non-band members

Details: There are 80 spots available to be filled. Youth are encouraged to bring their own instrument and be prepared to audition. Registration includes uniform, instrument rental, professional instruction and practice venue.
