New Hampshire piles on the runs in rout over Mets

Miguel Negron homered three times and drove in six runs, helping the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 14-6 victory over the Binghamton Mets at NYSEG Stadium Thursday. Binghamton split its four-game series with the Fisher Cats, losing the last two contests. Negron opened the scoring for New Hampshire (35-30) when he led off the game with a home run to right off Kevin Deaton. The rightfielder would homer again off Deaton in the second, a three-run shot, as part of a four-run inning that gave the Fisher Cats a 5-0 lead. Deaton (2-4) left in the third after allowing a two-run double to Rob Cosby and a two-run homer to Erik Kratz to go down 9-0. Reliever Tim McNab came on and allowed Negron's third homer of the night, a two-run blast, to make it 11-0 New Hampshire. Binghamton (30-32) got on the board in the fourth when Jay Caligiuri and David Bacani singled ahead of a two-run triple by Jeff Duncan. The B-Mets scored four times in the fifth, loading the bases on singles by Zac Clements and Anderson Hernandez and an error that allowed Wayne Lydon to reach. Aarom Baldiris followed with a three-run double and came home three batters later on a Bacani sacrifice fly, bringing Binghamton within 11-6.
New Hampshire added a run in the sixth on a Cosby RBI double and two more in the seventh when former B-Met Ron Acuna hit a two-run single to center. New Hampshire reliever Bubbie Buzachero (2-1) pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings for the win.
Friday, the B-Mets start a seven-game road trip with a three-game series at Norwich against the Navigators. Brian Bannister (7-1, 2.09) will start for Binghamton against Merkin Valdez (4-2, 2.71) of Norwich. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 from NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast on Newsradio 1290 WNBF starting at 6:20. ###
