New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(MANCHESTER)--- Trenton scored six runs on nine hits in the middle three innings in a 6-2 win Friday night at Fisher Cats Ballpark. The Thunder (36-32) moved into a second place tie with the Fisher Cats (35-31) in taking the series opener. The game was delayed 2 hours, 10 minutes at the start because of thunderstorms in Manchester.
New Hampshire opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a home run by second baseman Ryan Roberts off starter Ramon Ramirez (3-3).
In the last of the third inning, shortstop Brad Hassey doubled, went to third on a groundout by Miguel Negron, and scored on a single by right fielder Maikel Jova (2-for-4, RBI) to make it 2-0. But that was all New Hampshire could manage against Ramirez, who allowed just the two runs on five hits, while walking three and striking out six.
Trenton picked up a run on sacrifice fly by designated hitter Eric Duncan in the fourth to close to 2-1. They took the lead during heavy rain in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits with the benefit of two Fisher Cat errors.
Starter Zach Jackson (2-1), who lost for the first time since joining New Hampshire, yielded a solo homer to Eric Duncan leading off the sixth. He left the game after giving up an RBI single to second baseman J-T Stotts (2-for-5, 2 RBI) in the sixth.
The series continues Saturday afternoon at 5:05pm with Josh Banks (5-5, 4.73) going for New Hampshire against Trenton right hander Jeff Karstens (6-5, 3.79).
The game can be heard on the Fisher Cat Radio Network with Bob Lipman at 4:55pm, and online at www.wkxl1450.com.
