Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Binghamton Mets infielder Chase Lambin, in the middle of a breakout season, has been promoted to the New York Mets' Triple-A affiliate, the Norfolk Tides in Norfolk, VA.

After starting the season as a reserve, Lambin, who did not play in Binghamton's 14-6 loss vs. New Hampshire Thursday, hit his way into the lineup and departs with a .323 average, sixth-best in the Eastern League, with a team-high 11 home runs, 24 RBI and a .615 slugging percentage (2nd in the EL) in 48 games. Prior to this season Lambin, a fourth-year pro, had never hit better than .289 or launched more than 10 home runs. Lambin also proved to be one of the more versatile members of the B-Mets, playing 30 games at third base, five at shortstop, four in leftfield and two at second base.

Lambin, who's expected to be in uniform for Norfolk's home game vs. Scranton-Wilkes Barre tonight, replaces former B-Met Jeff Keppinger on the Tides' roster. Keppinger is out with a knee strain.

Tonight, the Binghamton Mets start a seven-game road trip with a 6:35 contest at Norwich, the first of three games against the Navigators. They will also play a four-game series in New Britain before returning to NYSEG Stadium on June 24th for a six-game homestand against Erie and New Britain.
