Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

SALISBURY, MD - Despite being no-hit through the first four innings, the Delmarva Shorebirds awakened from their slumber to mash the Fredericksburg Nationals 10-1 on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

With a lineup comprised of entirely new additions, the Shorebirds (49-42) actually played from behind immediately against the Nationals (33-58)

Jordy Barley walked to lead off the game for the FredNats and then swiped second before advancing to third on a groundout. After another walk, Junior Martina singled him home to put the Nationals up 1-0.

The score stayed that way until the fifth. FredNats starter Karlo Seijas no-hit Delmarva through the first four innings before finally allowing a single to John Rhodes with one out in the fifth. Conor Pavolony followed that up with a two-run homer, his first of the year, to vault the Shorebirds ahead. Jacob Teter then laced a double with Collin Burns singling to put men at the corners. Reed Trimble then bounced into a fielder's choice, bringing home Teter to make it 3-1.

The Shorebirds busted the game open in the sixth. The first nine batters reached in the frame with Shorebirds capitalizing with a Donta' Williams RBI single, a Pavolony two-run double, a Teter two-run single, a Connor Norby RBI base hit, and a Colton Cowser sacrifice fly to plate seven in the frame and bring the game to its final line of 10-1.

Houston Roth (7-3) earned the win for Delmarva with five innings of one-run baseball. Roth allowed three hits and walked three while striking out five.

Karlo Seijas (3-11) was tagged with the loss for the FredNats after allowing three runs on four hits without recording a strikeout.

The Shorebirds piled up 10 hits and six walks while striking out just once the entire game. Pavolony and Teter each had multi-hit games with Pavolony driving in four and Teter bringing in two. Cowser and Mayo each smacked doubles for the Shorebirds while all nine players in the starting lineup reached base at least once and eight of nine players in the starting lineup collected at least one hit.

The Shorebirds go toe-to-toe again with the FredNats on Wednesday, August 18 at Perdue Stadium. Delmarva sends Ty Blach (0-0, -.--) to the hill against Michael Cuevas (1-4, 3.45) for the FredNats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 on MiLB.TV and Fox Sports 960 AM with Sam Jellinek on the call.
