The game moved farther away from the Pelicans as the home team plated four runs in the bottom half of the sixth. With runners on second and third, Rodriguez hit a liner up the middle for a single as Hamilton scored. Perry scored on a single by Victor Mascai to make it a 5-1 game. Jose Almonte came in and threw two wild pitches that eventually scored Rodriguez and increased the lead to 6-1.

Two more runs came in the seventh as Michael Sandle hit a one-out single and moved over to second on a passed ball. After the next batter was retired, Rodriguez hit his second RBI single to left as Sandle scored.
