FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution and Chelsea FC have announced their rosters ahead of the upcoming "Final Whistle on Hate" charity match. The match will take place at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, May 15, with kickoff slated for 8:00 p.m. ET.
The New England Revolution's full 25-man squad will be available for the match, while Chelsea will travel its regular first-team squad to Foxborough, including Eden Hazard, N'Golo Kanté, David Luiz, Gonzalo HiguaÃn, and Willian, among others.
This year's Blues side is currently competing for a top-four spot in the English Premier League - seeking qualification for the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League with two games remaining. The West London side has also qualified for the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League Semifinal, where it will face German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for a berth in the Final.
"We are proud and excited to bring a strong team to Boston for the 'Final Whistle on Hate'," Chelsea FC defender Cesar Azpilicueta said. "Discrimination, and in particular anti-Semitism, is too common in society and our match against the New England Revolution will use the power of sport to promote tolerance and equality. For many of us players, it will be our first time in Boston and we're looking forward to seeing the city and playing in front of our loyal US fans."
"We're very much looking forward to welcoming Chelsea to Boston for the 'Final Whistle on Hate' match, and look forward to the test of playing against their very talented squad," Revolution defender Michael Mancienne said. "We are thrilled to be unified with Chelsea in this effort to combat anti-Semitism and discrimination, and hope to bring together all types of people in support of this important cause."
The Revolution and Chelsea FC have teamed up to highlight the ongoing rise of hate crimes around the world and are working together to harness the power of sport in bringing people together to tackle hate and prejudice in all its forms. The match's primary beneficiaries will include the World Jewish Congress, the Tree of Life synagogue, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Holocaust Educational Trust. Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich and the Kraft family will also each donate $1 million in support of the cause.
