FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - All four New England Revolution Academy teams were in action last weekend, travelling across the border to take on Toronto FC Academy on Saturday, with the U-17s and U-15s also facing CF Montreal on Sunday.
The U-19s took Toronto to a draw with Carl Laurent (2005 - Miramar, Fla.) scoring the equalizer in the 27th minute to notch his second goal of the season in six games played. The U-17s went 1-0-1 in their games, beating Toronto 2-1 with goals from Alexi Karalis (2005 - Belmont, Mass.) and Malcolm Fry (2005 - Groton, Mass.). They went on to tie CF Montreal, 2-2, as Steban Betancur (2005 - Revere, Mass.) opened the scoring and Olger Escobar (2006 - Lynn, Mass.) secured the draw in the 67th minute.
The U-15s notched a 2-1 victory vs. Toronto with both tallies coming from Tito Nichols (2007 - Milton, Mass.), who now owns 10 goals on the season. The team fell on Sunday vs. Montreal, 1-0. The U-14s also defeated Toronto by a score of 2-1 with Cristiano Carlos (2008 - Chicopee, Mass.) tallying twice for New England, extending his team lead to 15 goals.
The U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s will now all head to Boyds, Maryland to compete in the MLS NEXT Flex tournament. The U-19s are set to take on Shattuck St. Mary's, Real JFC and Nomads in Group G action while the U-17s face Ballistic United and Tampa Bay United in Group Play E. Revolution MLS NEXT Highlights
U-19 forward Carl Laurent (2005 - Miramar, Fla.) scored the game-tying goal in the team's draw with Toronto FC Academy.
U-17 defender Alexi Karalis (2005 - Belmont, Mass.) opened the scoring with his second goal of the year in his team's 2-1 victory vs. Toronto FC Academy, while forward Malcolm Fry (2005 - Groton, Mass.) notched his sixth goal in 12 games for the game winner.
U-17 forward Olger Escobar (2006 - Lynn, Mass.) secured the draw for the U-17s with his equalizing goal in the 67th minute against CF Montreal after he entered the game as a substitute four minutes earlier.
U-15 forward Tito Nichols (2007 - Milton, Mass.) scored his ninth and tenth goals of the season on Saturday, leading his team to a 2-1 win over Toronto, while U-14 forward Cristiano Carlos (2008 - Chicopee, Mass.) also tallied two goals to bring home another 2-1 win for New England.
