SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes defeated the Colorado Rapids 1-0 on Saturday at PayPal Park. Defender Nathan scored the Quakes' game-winning goal, while JT Marcinkowski made five saves to earn his first shutout of the season. San Jose is now 3-1-0 in all competitions under interim head coach Alex Covelo, including a 2-1-0 record in MLS play.

The Earthquakes are now preparing for two away matches this week, first facing Seattle Sounders FC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday, May 11 at Starfire Sports Complex, before traveling to Canada to play Vancouver Whitecaps FC in MLS regular season play on Saturday, May 14 at BC Place.

Wednesday's match is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the match will be livestreamed on ESPN+. Saturday's game is slated for 4 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050, and 1370 KZSF.

Following Saturday's win, the Earthquakes climbed two positions to place 11th place in the Western Conference (2-5-3; 9 pts.).

Winning Stat

The Earthquakes won 1-0 for the first time since July 31, 2021 at Seattle, and for the first time at home since July 6, 2019 vs. Real Salt Lake.

Defender Nathan scored his first goal of the season and third of his MLS career. His goal also marks the first game-winning goal of his MLS career.

Nathan and Marcinkowski Selected to MLS Team of the Week

San Jose Earthquakes defender Nathan and goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski have been selected to Major League Soccer's Team of the Week for Week 10 following the Earthquakes' 1-0 home win against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The Team of the Week selections are the first of the season for both players. It also marks Marcinkowski's second and Nathan's fourth TOTW selections all-time. The Earthquakes have now had six different players selected in TOTW recognitions so far this season, with the two players joining Francisco Calvo (Week 2), Cade Cowell (Week 5), Jeremy Ebobisse (Weeks 6 and 7), and Cristian Espinoza (Week 8).

Earthquakes to Celebrate AAPI Heritage Night on May 18

The San Jose Earthquakes will celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Night on Wednesday, May 18 vs. the Portland Timbers, presented by Uber Eats. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The match will feature culturally specific festivities pregame, including an appearance from P-Lo, a multi-platinum songwriter/producer and Bay Area native of Filipino descent, a taiko drum performance by Drum Revolution and appearances by TikTok personalities and AAPI activists Vignesh Swaminathan (@mrbarricade ) and Adam Juratovac, Esq. (@adamjthelawyer).

EARTHQUAKES II UPDATE

Earthquakes II defeated Timbers2 3-0 last Sunday at PayPal Park. Jack Skahan, Diego Otoya, and Erick Reyes each scored to give Quakes II their first win at PayPal Park. Additionally, 17-year-old Emi Ochoa earned his second shutout of the season.

Quakes II will continue their three-match homestand when they host Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday, May 15. Kickoff from PayPal Park is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT and the match will be broadcast live on MLSNEXTPro.com .

ACADEMY UPDATE

The Quakes Academy Boys squads had an action-packed weekend, with the U13s (W 3-0) and U14s (W 4-2) defeating Ballistic United, while the U15s (L 5-2) and U17s (2-1) fell to the LA Galaxy on Sunday. The U13s (W 2-1) and U14s (L 4-1) later returned to play, facing Sacramento Republic FC on Sunday.

The U13s and U14s will now have a bye week, while the U15s and U17s will compete in the MLS Next Flex Event in Maryland this weekend.
