
NBA Star Reggie Evans Next Pels Celebrity Coach

The Pensacola Pelicans announced today that NBA star and Pensacola native Reggie Evans will be the Pelicans next Celebrity Coach on Friday, July 27. First pitch between the Pelicans and El Paso Diablos is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
As Celebrity Coach, Evans will be suited in a Pelicans jersey complete with his name and number on the back and exchange the line-up cards with the umpires and managers before the game.
Fans will be able to place a silent auction bid on his Pelicans jersey during the game. In addition to the jersey, fans will have the opportunity to get a free autograph during the game.
All of the proceeds raised from jersey auction will go to the Southern Youth Sports Association. The Southern Youth Sports Association (SYSA) is a local grass-roots nonprofit organization whose mission is to respond to the academic, social, and physical needs of each child through the appropriate involvement of community, students, and staff.
Evans played his college career at Coffeyville Junior College and the University of Iowa. He was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and named to the second team All-Big Ten both his junior and senior seasons.
His first season in the NBA was 2002 with the Seattle Supersonics where he played for four seasons before joining the Denver Nuggets.
