Calzado 3-4 in Pelicans's win

Napolean Calzado went 3-4 with four runs scored as the Pelicans defeated the Diablos 9-4 on Wednesday night from Pensacola, FL.

The Pelicans erupted for four runs in the bottom of the first. Napolean Calzado blasted a two-run homer to left field for the first two runs. Marcos Rodriguez would score on a passed ball after reaching on a single. Bo Williams also provided an RBI double as the Pelicans took the 4-0 lead.

The Diablos would tie up the game in the top of the third. Jordan Belcher led off the frame with a single. Casey Clary walked in the next bat. Albenis Machado would also walk loading the bases for El Paso. Kory Drew then belted a grand-slam to left field, the Diablos first grand slam of the season knotting up the game at four.

Pensacola re-took the lead in the bottom of the third. The Pelicans scored two runs off of two hits. Bo Williams and Joshua Ragar had sacrifice flys in the frame giving Pensacola a 6-4 advantage. The Pelicans stretched it to 8-4 in the bottom of the fourth with three base hits off of Andy Torres.

Pensacola scored their final run in the bottom of the eighth. Trino Aguilar drove home Napolean Calzado with a single, making it 9-4.

The combination of Napolean Calzado and Marcos Rodriguez scored seven of Pensacola's nine runs.

Noel Baca (1-1) picks up his first professional victory as he threw five innings allowing four earned runs off of four this with three walks and seven walks.

Andy Torres (6-2) takes the loss, he lasted three and a third allowing six earned runs off of 10 hits with four walks and one strikeout.

Dallas Strankman threw three and two thirds scoreless innings of relief.

The Diablos will play Pensacola for the fourth straight game on Thursday night at 5:35 PM (MST). Greg Wiltshire will get the start for the Diablos in the contest. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1380 AM and at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
