SPRINGDALE, Ark - Kort Peterson drove home a pair of runs in the fourth to pull Northwest Arkansas within a run of Amarillo but it would be all the visitor's from that point on as the Naturals (44-60/13-23) were defeated by the Sod Poodles (55-50/21-16) by a 12-2 final on Monday night. Amarillo takes a two-games-to-one lead in the series with the finale on Tuesday night.

The Naturals battled their way back into the game after a RBI single by Owen Miller in the first, a solo home run by Peter Van Gansen in the second and an RBI knock by Edward Olivares in the third put Northwest Arkansas in an early 3-0 hole. Emmanuel Rivera got the inning started with a one-out single and advanced to second on a two-out walk by Taylor Featherston to set the table for Peterson, whom drove a double off the wall in center field to plate both runners to pull the Naturals within one at 3-2.

The Sod Poodles kept the pressure on adding two runs in the fifth inning to regain their three-run advantage. A defensive miscue by the Naturals brought in Rodrigo Orozco before a Luis Torrens plated the second with a sacrifice fly and a 5-2 lead.

Another run in the sixth and two more in the seventh by Amarillo stretched the lead to six runs as Kyle Overstreet hit a solo home run to left for the tally in the sixth before Miller and Torrens had back-to-back RBI doubles in the seventh. The Sod Poodles would go on to add three more runs in the eighth on an Ivan Castillo RBI single and a two-run double by Torrens before the visitor's would set the final score at 12-2 with another run in the ninth on Van Gansen's second home run of the contest.

Amarillo scored runs in every inning on Monday night except the fourth as four different players' recorded multi-hit games.

Gerson Garabito (L, 5-7) got the start for Northwest Arkansas and fought through his 4.1 innings of work. The right-hander gave up five runs, four earned, on five hits and walked four after he had not given up a run at Arvest Ballpark in his previous 14.0 innings pitched. The solo shot by Van Gansen in the second was also the first home run he had allowed at home since June 8th.

The Naturals bullpen did not fare well against the Sod Poodles in Game 3 of this 4-game set as the trio of Grant Gavin, Andrew Beckwith, and Franco Terrero gave up seven runs - six earned - on eight hits over the last 4.2 innings of the game.

Nick Margevicius (W, 3-2) earned the win for Amarillo after tossing 6.0 innings of two-run baseball to go along with eight strikeouts. The left-hander was making his eighth start in Double-A after making 12 starts for the San Diego Padres this season.
