Midland RockHounds News Release

In recapping the first two games of the series, we've used boxing analogies. The "theme" works for game three as well ... call it "Rocky III, Starring Jared Walker."

The Tulsa Drillers scored three early "knockdowns," in the form of three solo home runs (two from Walker), and went on to defeat the RockHounds, 8-2, Monday evening at Security Bank Ballpark.

Walker broke a scoreless tie on Grant Holmes' first pitch of the third inning, lifting a home run to right field. Two pitches later, Logan Landon sent a drive out to virtually the same spot and the Drillers led, 2-0.

In his next at-bat, Walker ripped a solo shot to the power alley in right center, pushing Tulsa's advantage to 3-0 in the fifth. He added a two-run double in the sixth, part of a three-run inning that put the game out of reach. The Drillers first baseman finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, and four RBI.

Jo Jo Gray, the LA Dodgers' # 5 prospect, pitched five scoreless innings for his first Double-A win and lowered his ERA to 1.56 in three starts with Tulsa.

Notables

Edwin Diaz and Dan Gamache each had two hits for the RockHounds.

Gamache seems to be enjoying his first homestand at Security Bank Ballpark. After an 0-for-20 start on the road trip (it should be noted he reached base seven times), Dan is hitting .364 (8-for-22) with two doubles and four RBI in six games at Rocky Town. Diaz drilled an RBI triple to left-center in the eighth for his career-high 41st extra-base hit. Edwin, who leads the Texas League in doubles (27) is now the club's leading run producer with 46 RBI.
