Offense Comes Alive as Drillers Defeat RockHounds

MIDLAND, TX - The Tulsa Drillers offense came to life on Monday night as they defeated the Midland RockHounds 8-2. The offense lifted the team to victory with eleven hits and three home runs.

Tulsa got the scoring started in a big way in the third. Jared Walker and Logan Landon started the inning by hitting back-to-back home runs, giving Tulsa a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Walker struck again. He gave Tulsa a 3-0 lead with another solo homer

The Drillers added to their lead in the sixth. With Christian Santana at second, Connor Wong singled, knocking in the run. Angelo Mora followed with a single, and Walker capped the inning with a double off the wall, extending Tulsa's lead to 6-0.

Jo Jo Gray got the start on the mound for Tulsa, and was very good in his five scoreless innings. He struck out four while allowing only four hits.

Midland scored its first run of the game in the sixth. After Edwin Diaz singled, Dan Gamache knocked him in with a double.

Tulsa added two more in the seventh. After a walk by Drew Avans and a single by Santana, Zach McKinstry knocked in a run with a double to left. Santana then scored from third after a passed ball by catcher Collin Theroux, bringing the score to 8-1.

The RockHounds added one more run in the eighth on an RBI triple by Diaz.

WHAT YOU MISSED

*Walked had a monster game, going 3-4 with 2 home runs, giving him 11 for the season.

*Michael Boyle and Jordan Sheffield each worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen, and were each charged with a run.

*Markus Solbach made his Drillers debut out of the bullpen and struck out three over 1.1 innings.

*Santana's bat stayed hot with two hits that accounted for two runs for the Drillers.
