Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
Kyle Day drove in two runs in the first inning but Potomac scored five unanswered runs to take game two of the series 5-2.
Lynchburg got on the board in the first inning. Jose Gualdron singled with one out and advanced to second on Neftali Soto's single. Both runners scored on Day's two-out double to put the Cats up 2-0.
Curtis Partch held the Nats scoreless through three, but Potomac drew level in the fourth inning. Bill Rhinehart homered to lead off the frame. With one out, Jose Lozada doubled and later scored on the single by Chris Curran.
Partch left the game after six innings. He gave up the two runs on six hits and also struck out six. That matches a season high.
The Nats jumped on the Cats bullpen in the seventh. Pedro Villarreal replaced Partch and retired the first batter he faced. Dan Lyons and Mike Burgess followed with two straight singles to put Nats at the corners. Tyler Moore then grounded out, driving in one run. Rhinehart reached on an error by Shane Carlson to score the second run of the inning.
Potomac scored again in the eighth. Lozada led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on the sacrifice bunt by Nick Moresi. Villarreal loaded the bases and gave up a single to Mike Burgess that scored Lozada.
Partch gets no decision and Villarreal picks up the loss in his first outing with Lynchburg. Villarreal gave up three runs, two earned.
Lynchburg and Potomac continue their series at Pfitzner Stadium tomorrow night at 7:03. Jordan Hotchkiss (8-4, 2.39) starts opposite Danny Rosenbaum (2-0, 1.00). Catch all the action on KD Country 105.5 FM in Lynchburg or on Lynchburg-Hillcats.com starting with the On Deck show at 6:40.
