Nationals Trade for Catcher
Published on June 9, 2007 under Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Washington Nationals completed a trade last night and brought a new catcher into the organization. That catcher, Javi Herrera has been assigned to Harrisburg. To make room for Herrera on the team, catcher Brett Logan was moved to the Vermont roster.
Herrera was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians out of University of Tennessee in the second round of the 2003 draft. The Miami, FL, resident played for both Kinston and Akron last year.
Herrera played in 18 games with the Akron Aeros this season before the trade. He was hitting .167 with no home runs and six RBI's.
Logan goes to the Vermont roster after appearing in 19 games with the Senators. He was batting .104 with, 0 home runs and 1 RBI. Since Vermont has not started it's season, Logan will most likely stay with the Senators for a few days.
With the player moves today, the Senators' active roster stands at 24 players, the limit allowed by the Eastern League.
